Brave and Bold: A Poem About Finding Strength as a Quiet Girl
There was a girl, so quiet and shy,
With lowered blue eyes and a whispered sigh.
Too fearful and afraid to make a scene,
She hid in the corners, feeling small and unseen.
Afraid to rise, afraid to leap,
A frozen soul that’s in too deep.
She lingers where the waves meet land,
A refuge for the mind’s command.
Her voice a whisper, soft and meek,
Told to speak up, but she would only weep.
She watched the world with longing eyes,
A silent soul, wrapped in disguise.
Held captive by the storm in her mind,
She shed a layer, left darkness behind.
A spark within began to rise,
A newfound strength beneath the skies.
She longed to be her truest self,
To fight for her soul, to reclaim her health.
Though she may seem fragile, and slight,
Her inner warrior, was prepared to fight.
One day the cocoon began to open,
Her wings unfurled, the ties were broken.
A flutter soft, then bold and wide,
She spread her wings, no more to hide.
The chains of doubt fell to the ground,
She heard the wind, no fear to drown.
She soared above the clouds so high,
A quiet girl now free to fly.
For in her heart, she always knew,
The strength within was hers to choose.
And now she flies with grace untold,
A quiet girl, both brave and bold.
“The butterfly does not look back upon its caterpillar self — either fondly or wistfully. It simply flies on.”
