The Joy of Losing Track of Time
I think there’s something great about the moments when time slips by without noticing. That usually happens when I’m reading. The kind of reading that pulls you in deeply. Lately, I’ve been a sap for fantasy novels. I never used to be a fantasy reader, but after reading a few series, I’ve been rather obsessed.
But I’ll sit down with a book and promise myself only to read a few chapters, but the next thing I know, it’s dark outside. I disappear into the story. It’s my bit of escapism when my mind needs a break from racing around. To me, it’s not a waste of time.
Another place where I lose track of time is when I’m on my computer, especially when I’m writing or working on my blog. I’ll get into a flow where words pour out faster than I can type. I fine-tune my blog layout, play around on Canva, add new recipes or a journal entry. Then suddenly I realize hours have passed. I’m just fully immersed into what I’m doing.
There’s a freedom in doing something that lights you up. You’re not checking the clock. You’re not doing it out of obligation. You’re creating, dreaming, exploring, just for the joy of it. And that’s something I think we need more of in this world. Permission to love ourselves in what we love. To follow what feels good. To chase curiosity without guilt.
“Time flies when you’re doing what you love.”
