Why Rest is Key to Boosting Productivity
I feel most productive when I’m well-rested and rejuvenated. For me, I need time to relax my body, my mind, or otherwise I can feel depleted of energy. Taking time for yourself is necessary to be productive. However, I can’t help but feel guilty and shameful about it.
Some days I wake up in a great mood and feel ready to tackle the day. These moments are invigorating, and I often keep the momentum going, but I burn out rather quickly. I try to hold on for as long as I can, but I’m the type of person that requires rest. I need to recharge my batteries and relax before I burn out.
More often than not there are days where I wake up feeling sluggish and depressed. On these days it’s difficult to get even the smallest task done. I feel completely drained, and mentally unstable. I want to be productive, but sometimes I just can’t keep up with the rest of them.
I’m learning not to force myself to accomplish things when I’m feeling down. I might not live up to the normal societal expectations, but I honestly don’t care anymore. I’m just trying to navigate my life, at my pace, and I’m proud of that. I keep going because I want to, not because I have to.
“I’m no longer chasing anyone else’s pace. I’m building a life that honors my energy, my needs, and my truth.”

I relate so much. I even find my morning time is more productive creatively if I need to come up with new ideas.
