Prompt: One Thing I Hope People Say About Me

Tell us one thing people say about you?

One thing people would say about me is that I’m a great listener. I usually have always been a go-to person when it comes to sharing how people might be feeling. I guess I give off that essence of trust and comfortability. This natural ability to create a safe space for others allows them to open up freely, and I do greatly enjoy that others have such confidence in me. It makes me feel seen and wanted for companionship. There’s something incredibly rewarding about being that anchor for someone during their turbulent times.

I will often tell my friends to please vent or explain what you’re going through, as I truly want to be there for them. My nature has always been to help people when they’re in need, and it honestly brings me such satisfaction and fulfillment. Listening attentively to my friends’ woes, I feel, is a significant way to show that I care deeply about their well-being. Many times, we find solace in understanding that we are not alone in our struggles, and I take pride in being part of that supportive community.

Even though I suffer from numerous mental health issues, I have always been able to be a friend where one is needed. I think that is a wonderful strength and ability to connect with others on a deeper level. My challenges have, in some ways, equipped me with the awareness and empathy to recognize when someone is having a tough time. I find that our shared vulnerabilities can lead to deeper conversations, fostering those meaningful relationships I value so much.

Since I despise small talk, I value being able to get to a different, more meaningful level with those that I love. It feels so much more fulfilling to dive into topics that matter, to explore the nuances of our feelings and experiences. I’m mostly referring to friends, however, even out in public, I give off the vibe that I just have one of those friendly faces. People often approach me with ease, sharing a piece of their day or a thought without hesitation, which I find wonderfully intriguing. This openness not only enriches my life but also reminds me of the importance of connection in a world that often feels disconnected.
