How Food Fuels Your Energy: Breakfast Insights
When I stop and think about the things that give me energy, a few things come to mind. There’s external things like exercise and physical activities to generate a mood boost. But there’s also internal things that bring energy like feelings of excitement, gratitude, and inspiration. Energy can come from many forms, but for me, food is the source of it all.
Food really is fuel. It’s what keeps both my body and my mind functioning throughout the day. And for me, breakfast really sets the tone. It’s the most important meal because it jumpstarts my brain, gives me strength, and helps me focus.
On weekends, I like to splurge when it comes to breakfast. I enjoy the works: eggs, bacon or sausage, crispy hashbrowns, and toast. Having a heavier meal not only gives me energy, but it also keeps me full for most of the day. It’s practically a two for one special.
I remember going down to Venice beach with a friend one morning to grab a bite to eat. We found a spot that had the “best burritos in town,” so we opted to try it out. My friend and I both looked at each other after we took that first bite, and our eyes rolled. The gooey cheese melting into the scrambled eggs, the spice from the Pico de Gallo, the sausage tucked in tight, the freshness of the avocado all wrapped into a delicate flour tortilla—perfection ladies and gentlemen.
After that experience, I was craving breakfast burritos for weeks. They’re deliciously packed with all of the protein and carbs you’d need to keep you energized. And here in Los Angeles, this meal is a staple. I like to look at breakfast burritos as a way to celebrate the start of the day because it leaves you satisfied, comforted, and motivated. It’s the perfect balance of comfort and fuel.

Notes
Food really is energy. And while exercise and hobbies recharge me in their own ways, nothing gives me the same kind of fuel as a good breakfast. Whether it’s a quick bagel or a hearty burrito, starting the day with something nourishing makes all the difference.
