I’ve always had mixed feelings about this question, because honestly, I enjoy both. Each part of the day brings something different out of me, and it’s something I appreciate in its own way.
Mornings have their own quiet charm. There’s something refreshing about starting the day with a clean slate, a sense of possibility, and a moment relax before everything begins.
My morning routine always starts the same way: coffee first, and everything else second. I truly can’t do anything until I’ve had that first sip. After that, I give myself at least ten minutes just to ease into things. I’ll put on a meditation app or something soothing to calm my mind and set the tone for the day.
Then I try to make breakfast. I haven’t been very hungry in the mornings lately, but I’ll at least make a piece of toast—sometimes with avocado if I’m feeling it. After that, I get ready, step outside for a quick walk with my dog, breathe in the crisp morning air, and finally feel ready to begin the day. There’s a soothing energy in the morning that feels fresh, positive, and hopeful.
But evenings… evenings have a different kind of effect. They’re where I unwind, decompress, and settle into the version of myself that feels the most real.
My evening routine is simple. I come home and make dinner—my favorite meal of the day. After dinner, I let myself fully relax. Most nights, you’ll find me at my computer writing or blogging, music playing in the background, and getting lost in my own little world.
When it’s time to get ready to go to bed, I go through my small skincare routine and wash off the day. I usually fall asleep watching a show, cozy underneath my covers, and let my brain settle into quiet.
If I had to choose, I’d pick the evening. As much as I love the fresh start of morning, it’s in the evenings that I feel the most like myself. I can unmask, let loose, and just be—no pressure, no expectations, just me existing in my own space.
“The world slows down at night, and that’s when I finally feel free to be me.”
