5 Simple Ways to Recharge Your Mind This Weekend

It’s the weekend! It’s time to unwind and recharge your mental battery.  Sometimes we forget that rest isn’t a reward, it’s a necessity. Weekends are the perfect time to pause and show our minds a little more love and gratitude. If you’ve had a hectic week, like I have, then here are five easy ways to find some of peace.

1. Take a Break From Social Media

Sometimes it’s difficult to pry yourself away from your phone at times. But trying to go a few hours without scrolling the pages can truly make a difference. Do this by turning off notifications, step away and let your brain take away well-deserved break.  Try something else to fulfill that desire. Journaling, coloring, or talking a nice walk are great alternatives.

Try this: Go “airplane mode” for two hours and do something equivalent.

2. Take a Nature Break

There’s nothing like the fresh smell of springtime. Get outside and enjoy the day. Whether you want a full-blown nature hike, or you prefer a slow stroll around the neighborhood with your dog, it is refreshing to get outside.  Nature has a way of helping us reconnect with ourselves.

Try this: Sit under a tree, notice five things you can hear, see, and feel.

3. Brain Dump

Sometimes, what feels like mental fatigue is just mental clutter.  Try releasing that negative energy you have built up and do a complete brain dump.  I do this by writing down every task, worry, or rand thought that comes crowding in my mind.  There’s no judgement for what you jot down.  It’s just a release that you can unleash on paper.

Try this: Set a timer for 10 minutes and free-write whatever is on your mind.

4. Move Gently

You don’t need to run a marathon to feel better, but a simple stretch or dance around your room can shake off the weight of the week. It helps make you feel grounded and balanced again.

Try this: Play your favorite song and move however your body wants to.

5. Create a Cozy Moment

Take a bath, light a few candles, or wrap yourself in a soft blanket and just breathe. Sometimes the most restorative thing we can do is simply nothing.  Creating cozy relaxing moments are a form of self-love and appreciation.

Try this: Set up a mini “cozy corner” just for you this weekend.

Final Thought

Rest isn’t selfish. It’s soul-sustaining.

*What do you do over the weekend to help you reset? I’d love to hear it.

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes… including you.”
