Why My Phone is Essential for Daily Life
Now, I could give you an inspiring answer like patience or resilience, but let’s be honest—it’s my phone. Before you start rolling your eyes, hear me out. My phone is more than just a small object of distraction. It’s a little hub for everything that makes me, me.
It’s my notebook — though, these days, it lives inside my phone. I love the idea of carrying a notepad and pen everywhere I go, but I can’t stand the clutter of a full purse or the endless digging for something small. That search alone drives me up the wall.
I do still keep a physical notebook in my car. There was a time when I’d head to the park often, sit with a friend, and spend hours scribbling out stories by hand. I’m pretty old school at heart, but when it comes to capturing ideas quickly, my phone has become a necessity.
My phone is also my connection to the world. It’s how I check in on loved ones and keep up with friends who live too far away for spontaneous coffee hangouts. Through my phone, I share pieces of my day—photos I take, music I listen to, books I want to read—it’s essentially my life laid out.
And sure, it’s also my boredom-buster. Stuck in a doctor’s waiting room? Scrolling. Long layover at the airport? Scrolling. Need to avoid awkward small talk with someone who definitely remembers me but whose name I forgot? You guessed it — scrolling.
It’s a little piece of my life in my pocket. And honestly? If I walked out the door without it, I’d feel like I was missing something important. It’s not because I can’t survive without a screen. It’s because I don’t want to miss the moments, big or small, that it helps me catch.
“Behind every screen is a universe of memories waiting to be revisited.”
