Why Being Informed Feels More Important Than Ever
There are many areas of life that I’d like to learn more about, but there are a few things in particular that intrigue me most.
Mental health is very personal to me. It’s affected me my whole life, and I want to learn as much as possible about how my brain works. I went to an ADHD conference that enlightened me and made me feel less alone. I gained insights and resources that have helped me grow since, and I want to be more involved and a part of the community.
An area of mental health that I’m most focused in is ADHD and autism in women. For many, they are overlooked or misdiagnosed, and answers don’t come until later in life. I didn’t get mine until two years ago. Growing up with undiagnosed illnesses was difficult. I always thought there was something off about me, but I didn’t know or understand why. If I had had more access to resources and support as a child, I don’t think I would’ve struggled so much. That feeling of not belonging shaped my life. Learning more about mental health feels like I’ll be reclaiming a piece of what I lost.
Politics and social issues are another area I believe need the upmost attention. We’re living in times of darkness and uncertainty. I want to refresh my memory on political science but also go beyond that. I want to better understand social injustices, inequalities, and the systems that perpetuate them. I’m fairly knowledgeable on the current issues, but still, I want to learn more deeply informed so I can hold my knowledge and opinions with clarity and confidence.
America is a mess right now. The contradictions, the hypocrisy, the hate, the violence—it’s overwhelming. The political divide keeps growing, and it feels like a complete circus, especially with a “president” who I can only describe as a moron. His idiotic cult following is completely blind to reality and love to use religion as a prop to justify choices and behaviors that hurt others. It’s absolutely infuriating.
Moving on, there is another topic I’d like to study further and that’s philosophy. I believe it can help improve my mental health and sharpen my critical thinking skills. Philosophy has helped me examine my thoughts, analyze situations from different perspectives, and make sense of life in a deeper way. I want to strengthen my reasoning and improve how I process the world around me. I think learning more about philosophy will give me more tools to think clearly and navigate life with a little more insight.
These are some of the things I want to be more informed about. Learning isn’t just about gaining knowledge, for me, it’s about making sense of everything and trying to live a life that feels honest more intentional.
