Discovering What Brings Me Peace
Peace is something that’s been difficult for me to come by. I’ve always been a very stressed out and anxious person, taking everything to heart. I always feel like things are my fault. Even when I know I had nothing to do with it, I still apologize profusely. But I’ve been discovering new ways to find peace and keep it for as long as I can.
Peace always sounded like a foreign word. I’d often think, how do people relax? How do they find peace and what does it mean to them? I don’t think there’s one singular definition of peace because it can mean something different to someone else.
But for me, peace is something serene and is felt heavily when you’re in the right mindset to welcome rest. I find most peace when I’m at the beach. There’s something about the sound of the ways, the smell of the sea, my toes digging in the sand. It’s truly the most peace I’ve ever felt. With the sun shining down on me, listening to music, reading a book, checking out the view, it all brings me such tranquility.
I’m also discovering new ways to find peace throughout my normal everyday life. I try to pause and take moments to myself to just breathe deeply and put my mind in a more positive place. When I’m journaling, coloring or when I’m just lying in bed, I find moments to really let myself relax, and hone into my activities.
I never really understood the concept of peace. What does it mean to be content? How does one hold on to it? Some questions still preoccupy me, but I know how essential it is for self-care. If you keep your batteries running all day, you’re sure to die out at some point.
I’m still tenderly taking care of my mental health, and learning new ways to cope with certain things. Peace is something I’m still seeking, but when I do feel it, I’m elated to know that I’m taking care of myself in the best way possible. I still have a long way to go, but it’s worth the journey to find inner peace.

I too suffer from mental health problems. The beach is one of my favourite places too! ๐๐ปโค๏ธ
