Ultimate Travel Bucket List: 10 Destinations Calling My Name
Traveling has always been something special to me. Not only because it means venturing into the unknown, but because it makes me feel like a new person. And I don’t mean that in the sense that it completely changes who I am. I mean it in the way that it gives me a renewed sense of wonder and hope. It leaves me feeling enlightened, revitalized, and intrigued by the world around me.
For me, it’s all about experiencing different cultures, tasting unfamiliar foods, walking streets filled with history, and discovering parts of myself I haven’t met before.
Some of these places have been on my list for years. Others found their way there through books, documentaries, photographs, or stories from other travelers. While I don’t know when I’ll visit each one, I do know they’re places I hope to experience someday.
Firstly, Here’s my current travel bucket list (in no particular order except for Calabria).
Calabria, Italy

I’ve dreamed of visiting Calabria ever since I was a little kid. For as long as I can remember, it’s felt like a place that’s quietly called my name. Part of that is because my family has roots there, but it’s also because I’ve always admired the rich history of this often-overlooked region of Italy.
Calabria isn’t talked about as much as Rome, Florence, or the Amalfi Coast, which honestly makes it even more appealing to me. I imagine quiet seaside villages, family-owned restaurants, scenic coastlines, and a slower pace of life where people truly savor each day.
Visiting Calabria feels like it would be more than just another vacation. It would feel like reconnecting with a piece of my family’s story and experiencing a place that has fascinated me for so many years. Of course, I would also have to see the famous Riace Warriors—two incredible ancient Greek bronze statues that are part of Calabria’s rich history.
2. Santorini, Greece

Oh, Greece! What a dream come true it would be if I ever got there.
I’m rather obsessed with the whitewashed buildings overlooking the majestic blue sea. The views almost seem unreal, like something straight out of a postcard.
I picture myself spending evenings watching the sunset, eating fresh Mediterranean food, wandering the narrow streets, and basking in the beauty around me. It feels luxurious, but also peaceful in a way that really appeals to me.
And while Santorini is at the top of my list, I also have to get to Athens. I love Greek mythology and history, so seeing those ancient landmarks in person would be an unforgettable experience.
3. Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok feels like organized chaos in the best possible way, and I think that’s exactly what draws me to it.
The floating markets, incredible street food, ornate temples, bustling nightlife, and vibrant culture all make it one of the most fascinating cities in the world. It seems like the kind of place where every corner offers something new to discover.
I’d love to immerse myself in the sights, sounds, and flavors of the city, stepping outside of my comfort zone and experiencing a culture so different from my own.
4. Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul has always fascinated me because it feels like a city unlike any other. The idea of standing in a place where Europe and Asia meet is something I find incredibly unique. I’ve been to Israel, which was a truly fabulous experience, but Turkey has always called to me as well.
I would love to wander through the colorful Grand Bazaar, admire the breathtaking architecture of the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, and learn about the city’s rich history.
Beyond the history, I imagine sipping Turkish coffee while enjoying Turkish delight at a local café and simply soaking in the culture. Istanbul feels like one of those cities where every corner has something beautiful to offer.
5. Cairo, Egypt

Standing before the pyramids has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.
I’ve always been fascinated by Ancient Egypt. There’s just something about the stories, the mythology, the lineage of pharaohs, and the writings left behind on ancient walls that captures my imagination.
Seeing those incredible monuments in person would be one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences I’d never forget.
6. Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo seems like a city of beautiful contrasts.
Ancient temples sit beside futuristic skyscrapers. Quiet gardens exist alongside busy intersections. It’s a place where tradition and modern life seem to exist together.
I’ve always wanted to see the cherry blossoms, experience the energy and chaos of Tokyo, taste the incredible food, and immerse myself in the culture and history. Part of my fascination with visiting Japan came from Lost in Translation. The movie captured a feeling of being somewhere completely unfamiliar yet strangely beautiful, and Bill Murray has a way of selling that experience.
And of course, since Japan is so big in baseball, I’d love to see that side of the culture firsthand. Walking through Tokyo and seeing Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto billboards everywhere would be an incredible experience.
7. The Maldives

The Maldives has always looked like the kind of place where time slows down. Crystal-clear water, endless sunsets, and overwater bungalows surrounded by the ocean feel almost too beautiful to be real.
If I ever make it there, I want to experience it the right way. I want to stay in one of those iconic huts over the water, wake up in the morning, and jump straight into the ocean. I want to experience the luxury, the relaxation, and the feeling of living a slower, more peaceful life—even if it’s only for a little while.
8. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio feels alive.
Everything about it seems energetic, colorful, and full of celebration. I’d love to experience the music, culture, incredible food, and breathtaking scenery firsthand.
Brazil has always fascinated me because it feels like a place full of passion and life. I want to taste the flavors of the country, explore its natural beauty, and experience the energy of a culture that celebrates connection, community, and joy.
I’m especially drawn to the rainforest. Even though I’m terrified of bugs and all the things that come with exploring nature, I love the beauty of the rainforest and the incredible life that exists there.
9. Reykjavík, Iceland

If I visit Iceland, Reykjavík would be my starting point.
Iceland looks like another planet, and that’s exactly why I want to see it. I’d love to explore the incredible landscapes, experience the geothermal lagoons, and hopefully catch the Northern Lights dancing across the sky.
I’ve always wanted to try the famous Icelandic hot dogs from the street vendors, relax in one of the natural hot springs, and experience the unique beauty of a country that feels so different from anywhere else.
I would also love to stay somewhere surrounded by nature, maybe even in one of those cozy glass igloo-style accommodations where I could look up at the sky and hopefully watch the Northern Lights from my room.
10. Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona seems to have everything I love about travel: incredible food, rich history, beautiful architecture, and a vibrant culture.
I’ve always been drawn to Spain’s history—the castles, royalty, and the stories that shaped the country over centuries. I would love to wander through the city, take in the architecture, and imagine all the history that surrounds me.
Of course, I also can’t forget about the food. Sitting at an outdoor café, enjoying tapas, and soaking in the atmosphere of Barcelona sounds like the perfect way to experience the city.
Travel is all about collecting stories, trying foods you’ve never tasted before, meeting people whose lives look different from your own, and discovering that the world is both bigger and smaller than you imagined.
Some of these trips may happen soon. Others may take years. Either way, I love having places to dream about.
I’d love to know—what’s at the top of your travel bucket list? Is there one destination you’ve always dreamed of visiting?
